Man On Wire

In 1974 some crazy chap named as Phillipe Petit, respectively, wire walked from one tower to the other of the World Trade Centre – with, I might add, NO safety equipment, well not unless you call a long 15ft pole he used to balance himself “safe.” In 2008 a film was created to document this feat, with real footage of Phillipe doing the deed. I watched this on Sunday and was totally transfixed by the whole spectacle – let me say it again, he walked across a wire that couldnt have been half an inch across and about 200ft long – 1368ft in the air!

I found this movie / documentary to be exceptionally inspiring – he did what he had dreamed of and didn’t let anyone put him off!

A must for anyone and everyone!

Dividing opinion

Vandalism, a crime, and deserves to be punished? Or beautiful, creative pieces of art utilising urban landscapes? I’m talking about graffiti, as you may have guessed. Graffiti is like Marmite; you either love it or hate it, there aren’t many folk that are anywhere in between. I love it (and Marmite) and am of the opinion that it brightens up otherwise dull walls and buildings and it’s great to see a really well thought out piece. The amount of craftmanship and creativity that go into fantastic graffiti is no less than that which goes into a more traditional piece of art such as a drawing or a sculpture. I’ve put images below of some of my favourites, check them out. What are your thoughts on this oldest (Cave paintings were graffiti after all!) form of art…?
