A chicken keeper’s life is full and busy, no better demonstrated today than offering sanctuary to these three fledglings who have joined the brood. No one’s sure what make they are as yet but Mick Kane (my name is Michael Kane), the wild bird man of Laneham has miraculously cultured them in an incubator from a few stray eggs he found laying around.

Et Voila!!
Two weeks on and we were still bereft! Plenty of feeding and tlc but no eggs. Took the advice of my friend Mr Dey and gave them the “chicken chasseur” talk and made it known I’d be “wringing the changes”. What do you know, when we got in after lunch that golden moment, our first chucky egg!! Mrs S so eggstatic she’s had to have a lie down. Now I’m just thumbing through Mrs Beeton’s as to what to do with it!
