We like to imagine that we’re a classy lot at Redesign. So when Neil offered to take us to lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant, recommended by Andrew Isaacs the local divorce solicitor, we were quick to jump at the chance.
Imagine how we felt when he lead us, in our Sunday best, to Doncaster indoor market. Situated right by the entrance, snuggled amongst the greasy spoons and haberdasheries is Café Med.
The counter was filled with jars of exotic looking vinegars, oils and pasta. There were bowls piled high with plump olives and almost every table was filled, which quickly made my hesitances melt away.
Between us we had red wine, fruit juice, tender mussels, tapas, juicy chicken skewers, fresh salad and lots of crusty bread. I did have to have a cup of tea though, as no matter how tasty the food was, there was no mistaking that we weren’t in the Med, we were still sat in a draughty market place, in Doncaster, in February…brrrr. It is definitely somewhere I would recommend as soon as summer arrives though.
I’ve also been let loose on our ‘Ad of the Month’ feature for March. I’ve picked Nike’s current Throwdown advert as it has a bit of personal significance to me.
I love the whole competitive vibe of the advert where athletes do a seemingly impossible stunt, then pull a pretty smug ‘Beat That’ face, only to be followed by another amazing scene. Who knew you could do such exciting things with exercise balls?
If you look 0:46 into the advert there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 3 second slot dedicated to a sport called Roller Derby. I have been a member of the Sheffield Steel Rollergirls since 2008 and absolutely love the sport.
I am used to the blank looks that I get from people when I try to explain what the sport is. The best thing to do would be to watch this instructional video that might give you a vague idea, or even better go and watch a game! After alot of rigmarole the hard-hitting, full-contact sport has finally been recognised as an official sport in the UK so it is nice that it gets a nod in this ad…enjoy!
