Now then, have been taking a back seat behind these pretty young things to now but felt at this juncture had to step in and administer some sense of reality! I’m Neil and affectionately known as the “Head Honcho” around the place. Have covered acres of ground on my way to now and am still here to tell the tale.
My own man I love what I love ie: My family, Man Utd, Eric Cantona, Tom Waits, France, Ireland, Van Morrison, Guinness, Jamesons (do you feel a Gaelic Theme?) and people who are straight (straight shooting that is, thought I better qualify!). Oh, and I love “On Golden Pond”… Goood God!
Now to these album covers. Felt compelled to intervene because these young jockeys around here think that vinyl is something that graces kitchen floors! And what’s more, the ones I list here are in my collection. So here we go Honcho:
Rain Dogs – Tom Waits : Check “Downbound Train” and forget all about Rod Stewart. In The City by The Jam : Happy, Happy days full of energy and expectation. Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy (Easy Tiger!) by Elton John : Great album & way out cover. The Queen is Dead – The Smiths : Never got the Smiths when my brother was into them – Can’t get enough now. Uprising by Bob Marley & The Wailers : Could be in big trouble if I divulged how I came about this but have a go at “Coming in from the cold” – Quality! Into the Great Wide Open – Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers : Learning to Fly – Oh yes, yes, yes! David Bowie – Heroes : Anybody remember him stealing the Live Aid show with “Heroes” – just f…..in awesome! Van Morrison and Astral Weeks : OMG “Madame George” – Just indulge yourself please. Whitesnake & “Lovehunter” : Saw these 1980ish at Leeds Queens Hall in my formative years – Ain’t no love in the heart of the city” – A classic and this is a great album cover. And last but not least Revolver by The Beatles : Here There and Everywhere – played just after I took the vows with Jacqui – timeless! Record(s) now set straight I reckon!
